Henderson is a city in and the county seat of Vance County, North Carolina. The population of the city is 15,368. The city was named in honor of former North Carolina Supreme Court Chief Justice Leonard Henderson, who lived nearby and was a friend of early settler Lewis Reavis.

Fun facts[]

  • The lead singer of The Manhattans, Gerald Alston, and singer Ben E. King were both born in Henderson. It is also the birthplace of Wayne Lambert, a former member of 70's R&B group Marshall Parks & the Textiles.
  • Despite its problems, Henderson has plenty of amenities to offer. It has Walmart, Nintendo World, Food Lion, plenty of fast food and a few chain restaurants, dollar stores, a bit of car dealerships, some hotels, a few auto parts places, plenty of local restaurants and businesses, a sports complex, a landing strip, some public battle fields, a contest hall, a showcase theater, Roses, Ollie's Bargain Outlet, Tractor Supply Co., a community college, a satellite campus of the Triangle Battle Academy, Vance-Granville Community College, and some other things.
